2025 Pre-Season Launch

The Hillwood Football Club invites all players, sponsors, supporters and families to our Pre-Season Launch at the Mowbray Racecourse.

Entry is free and we have exclusive access to the upstairs area.

Meet our coaches, new players and re-signs for 2025.

Relax, enjoy a meal, watch some harness racing and have a flutter if you like. There will be 3-4 races Hillwood “Sharks” Races to add to the excitement.

It’s good to be back ☀️

Vale – Kaye McLean 23.1.2025

The Hillwood Sharks Football Club, Committee, members, past and present players send their deepest condolences and love to the McLean Family on the passing of our Life Member Kaye McLean. Kaye passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, 23 January, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Kaye, alongside husband Bob McLean has been a tireless volunteer at the club. In her years with us she has managed the canteen, worked at many, many fundraising events including Agfest. She spent many hours helping build, rebuild and renovate with Bob. She was a second mum to many, often ferrying players to and from training, games and social functions.

Kaye will be sadly missed by us all. Our thoughts and sympathies to Kaye’s family at this hard time.

The McLean family have asked us to pass on the details of Kayes memorial service.

For anyone who would like to pay their respects, there will be an informal memorial service at the Hillwood Football Club on Saturday, 1st February between 10am and 12pm. In the spirit of old fashioned community values, a plate to share would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

2025 Women’s Coach Update

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Halle Pearce to the role of Senior Women’s Coach for 2025. Halle will take over from previously appointed coach Narine Maurangi (Naz), who unfortunately, for us, has had to step down due to increasing work commitments.

Halle grew up in Hillwood and has football in her veins, I’m sure you recognised the family name! She has also lived in Qld and played women’s football there for many years. Moving back to Tassie in early 2023 she joined our Hillwood squad and this year will be her 3rd season with us.

Halle will be supported by 2 local retired footballers – Darryl Griffiths and Bruce Donnelly. Both these men come with many years of football and coaching experience behind them.

We will certainly miss having our Naz around but we're sure she will make a few guest appearances where possible. Good luck Naz.

The club has full confidence in Halle and our coaching panel and wish them all the success for the coming season. Fins Up!

Chief (aka Siofra Clarke - VC and best utility two years running, Chief provides speed off the half back and through the middle and loves to sneak up forward and kick a bag.

Courtney Saunders - finished third in Hillwood goal kicking in 2024, is an exciting small forward with incredible goal sense.

Ellen Brickhill- nicknamed “Super Boot” - an elite booming right boot, strong mark and presence in the forward line.

All three will play pivotal roles in season 2025 and we are stoked to re-sign them!

More Sharks Locked Away For 2025!

My 3 most improved players for season 2024 are wanting to go bigger and better for season 2025 !!

Tank & Prac worked extremely hard to earn their spots this year and once given the opportunity they could do no wrong. Expect these men to have a big pre season and lock down their roles next year.

Zac ‘Twig’ Camplin isn’t afraid to take the game on and back end of this season really started to read the game defensively well and set us up from behind the footy, super excited to see what 2025 has in store for this young man.

Our core group that was once 3 or 4 is now around 12-15 and we are super excited to see where this can take us.

2024 Captains and Dynamic Midfield Group Recommit for 2025

We’re excited to welcome back this powerhouse group of women for 2025 as they return for some unfinished business. A dynamic mix of leaders and game changers, these players are set to drive the club forward with their talent and determination.

Sian Beeton – 2 time Best and Fairest and Club Co-Captain
Jorja Barron – Club Co-Captain
Halle Pearce – 2023 Best and Fairest winner
Charlie Giddins – 2024 NTFA Best and Fairest winner
Georgia Rowley – 100+ games and multiple Best and Fairest awards over her playing career.

This talented core group of women, along with others to be announced soon, will lay a strong foundation for success in 2025. The season ahead will be so exciting, and we can’t wait to get started!

“Locked in for 2025”

Great to see our youth sticking on at Hillwood.

As we struggle with any junior pathway, we rely heavily on developing our youth and these three men show plenty of promise as we look to build our young men into quality senior footballers.

These three men have the ability to really excel this season with Mitch Donnelly entering his 4th season at the Sharks and wanting to be a player to watch, both Harison Edwards and Nash Digney are Under 21 and looking to really stamp themselves as key defenders in this division.

Coach Pearce writes:

These three men are local boys who offer plenty of upside and are definitely 3 players to watch this year, I believe Nash will be looking to bigger and better things in season 2026 so I can’t wait to see the work he will put in this off season and what season 2025 has in store for him.

All three can’t wait to get stuck in for season 2025.

Returning senior coach Jake has some unfinished business. He’s working hard to build a playing list that will be strong, competitive and committed, He’s super keen to compete for that ultimate prize in September.

Naz has been at the club from the start of our women’s first year as an assistant coach and player. She’s ready to take control and build on their successes and go further than they have before.

Also returning for another year, reserves coach Luke has built a great core group of men who believe in themselves, who will push themselves to be their best and be there in September.

“Locked and loaded for 2025, these coaches are ready to unleash their game plans and drive their teams to success!”

People who know football know that a lot more goes into a football club than just playing on a Saturday and these boys are a great example of that.

We will look to build on what we have created over the last few years and these 6 lads will be driving standards both on and off the field next year.

With majority of the senior playing group signing on expect a lot more posts to come, all excited for the challenges ahead as we look to see plenty of changes in the 2025 NTFA season.
