Halle Pearce – 2023 Sharks Women’s Best and Fairest Winner

Updated: Aug 25, 2023

Halle Pearce, in her first year at the club, has secured the 2023 Best and Fairest trophy.

The courageous & skilful midfielder was instrumental in the team’s significant improvement this season having reached the finals for the first time in the side’s short history.

In a very impressive display Halle polled the maximum 5 votes on both cards in the last roster game against Longford to bring her season total to 54 votes, edging out last year’s winner Sian Beeton who had another great season with 45 votes. Amazingly Halle polled in 9 of her 10 games for the season.

In 3rd place was a fast-finishing Jorja Barron with 32 votes, improving on her 6th place position from last season. Taylah Leonard, another first year player, also had an excellent year polling 26 votes to take out 4th place.

Halle Pearce's journey to this victory was particularly significant due to her strong family ties to the club. Halle, having grown up in Hillwood, is the sister of the current senior coach & premiership player Jake and the daughter of Max, the club's president and former senior premiership player and coach.

So, it makes you wonder what the conversations might be like now during the family dinners. Jake and now Halle have managed to achieve what their father, the illustrious Max Pearce, couldn't during his time as a senior player at Hillwood – clinching the Best and Fairest title.

Congratulations Halle.
